Reds pulled plug on Lemina deal
Liverpool pulled the plug on a deal to sign Mario Lemina, reports Tuttomercatoweb.
The 22-year-old midfielder left Marseille in the summer and joined last year’s Champions League finalists Juventus on a season-long loan deal.
The Italians have the option to make the move permanent if they so wish.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Lemina was being lined up as a replacement for Lucas Leiva, who looked set to be leaving Liverpool.
However, the Brazilian’s move did not go through, and, therefore the Reds did not pursue a move for the Gabonese midfielder.
Lemina caused some controversy earlier this year when he refused to play for Gabon in the African Cup of Nations.
He had played for France at youth levels and may have been looking to become a full international for them, but he has since accepted the offer to play for Gabon and will do so in the future.
He has yet to feature for Juventus, although he was on the bench for the Champions League victory over Manchester City.
