Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is in talks with his former club Borussia Dortmund, as he looks to bring in centre-back Neven Subotic on loan, according to David Maddock of the Mirror.
The German’s options in central defence have been limited by injuries to Joe Gomez, Mamadou Sakho, Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren. Kolo Toure also struggled with cramp in Tuesday night’s win at Stoke City.
Maddock claims that Klopp is keen to recruit an experienced player in that position before the Reds travel to Devon for their FA Cup third round tie with Exeter City on Friday.
Andy Hunter from the Guardian claims that Portuguese defender Tiago Ilori could return to the fold following the termination of his loan to Aston Villa, but the 22-year-old hasn’t played any competitive club football all season.
As well as Subotic, the Reds have been linked with a move for Inter’s Andrea Ronocchia by Tuttomercatoweb.
