With Brendan Rodgers at the helm to start the season, a fair amount of Liverpool players were loaned out for more playing time, or to simply get them out of the club.
Some players just don’t have what it takes to be players for the future, while some I believe were overlooked by Rodgers and could possibly be revived under Jurgen Klopp, whether that be with the first team or the academy.
Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana have bloomed under Klopp thus far, and I think we’ll see a few more players follow suit.
Although those two were not sent out on loan, I think there is potential in some of our loaned players
On the flip side, I believe some players’ Liverpool careers are over.
Have a look at what I think the Reds should do in the summer with some of the current crop of players out on loan.
Lazar Marković (Fenerbahçe) - Keep
LADzar!
Most of Marković’s best performances last season were at right wing-back, but he showed glimpses of brilliance when he was played further forward.
He almost left Liverpool in the summer, but I feel Klopp is the right man to turn his Liverpool career around.
Luis Alberto (Deportivo) - Sell
Unfortunately, Alberto could already be out the door as a permanent deal with Deportivo looks likely, which is a shame because I think he deserved a second chance.
This one should be pretty easy. The Spaniard has done well during his spell with Championship side Brentford, and he’s only 19-years-old!
If you haven’t seen his goal against Reading this season, you’re missing out.
He has bags of potential. Perhaps if Klopp keeps him, we could see Canos break into the first team since the German has handed out debuts to youngsters left and right.
Mario Balotelli (AC Milan) - Sell
Again. This one should be pretty easy. Balotelli did not do much last season for Liverpool, except for his match-winning goal against Tottenham and Champions League goal against Ludogorets.
He doesn’t belong at Liverpool, and I think that’s pretty obvious.
There will hopefully be a big offer for him this summer from China, which will help recoup most of the £16m transfer fee Liverpool paid for him.
Andre Wisdom (Norwich) - Sell
Wisdom’s loans to Derby County, West Brom, and Norwich City over the past three seasons have mostly been failures.
He has not improved a whole lot, and I don’t see him in Klopp’s plans for the future. I think he’s an easily replaceable player.
Samed Yeşil (Luzern) - Sell
Let’s face it. Yeşil will never be good enough for the first team at Liverpool.
I recall three seasons ago when Liverpool had many attacking players injured for their trip to West Ham, and Yeşil was rumoured to maybe get a shot. That did not happen, and Yeşil has been stuck in the reserves ever since.
