Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp ordered a post-match party to go ahead despite defeat in the Europa League Final, reports the Daily Mail.

The club had arranged a party at the team’s hotel for players, coaches and backroom staff following Wednesday’s final, which the Reds lost 3-1.

But Klopp insisted that the team must go ahead with the celebrations in Basel, despite the loss which left players in tears after the match.

Dominic King – north-west football reporter for the Daily Mail – reports that the party went on until the early hours of Thursday morning as Klopp tried to lift the spirits amongst the team.

At one point, he gathered all the players and staff on the dance floor and said: “Two hours ago you all felt like s***, now hopefully you all feel better. This is just the start for us, we will be in many finals.”

The former Dortmund boss then went on to start singing ‘we are Liverpool, tra, la, la, la’ and made the room join in before the party resumed.

The Reds flew back to Merseyside hours later, with many of the squad now due to meet up with international teammates ahead of the European Championships and Copa America.
