Liverpool confirm Karius deal
Liverpool have confirmed the arrival of FSV Mainz 05 goalkeeper Loris Karius, after the young German passed a medical on Merseyside.
Karius has arrived in a deal expected to be worth around £4.7million, as Jurgen Klopp’s new look Liverpool starts to take shape. Karius signed a long-term deal with the Reds.
The 22-year-old will battle it out with current shot-stopper Simon Mignolet for the number one spot at Anfield after a nervy season for the Belgian.
Karius has been capped at every youth team for Germany, right up to their U21s squad, but is yet to receive a call-up for the senior side.
Despite his young age, Karius arrives at Anfield with some pedigree under his belt already. He was voted their third best goalkeeper in the Bundesliga last season, with nine clean sheets to his name. Only Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer and Bernd Leno were voted in front of him.
