Liverpool are set to meet the €60million (approx £45million) release clause of FC Porto winger Yacine Brahimi, according to a report from Portuguese outlet Abola.

The Algerian international, who is part-owned by Porto and agency group Doyen Sports, moved to the Portuguese side from Granada back in 2014 and has gone from strength to strength.

Doyen Sports originally owned 80% of Brahimi’s rights, but Porto paid €3.8 million to buy another 30%, meaning both parties now own 50%.

He scored ten goals and had 11 assists in 49 appearances for Porto last season and has been linked with moves to AC Milan, Juventus and Manchester United in the recent past.

If Liverpool are willing to meet the 26-year-old’s release fee, it would make Brahimi the club’s record signing, beating the £35million they paid to take Andy Carroll from Newcastle United in January of 2011.

Brahimi is a great dribbler who has the ability to beat defenders with ease thanks for his pace and skill, and if he could replicate his Porto form at Anfield, he’d be a sure-fire hit with Liverpool fans.
