Liverpool are reportedly lining up a move for Southampton’s Sadio Mane after finding out that Mario Gotze wants to stay at Bayern Munich this summer.

As reported by Andy Hunter of The Guardian, the Reds have identified the Senegalese international as a transfer target and could make a move to sign him in the upcoming days.

Liverpool have a record of signing players from Southampton in recent seasons with the likes of Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne moving from St Mary’s to Anfield in recent years.

According to Paul Joyce of The Express , Southampton rate Mane at £25million and are expecting interest from both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur as well as Liverpool.

Mane scored 15 goals in all competitions for the Saints last season, two of which came against Jurgen Klopp’s men when they came back from 2-1 down to win 3-2.

The 24-year-old is under contract until 2018, hence why Southampton can ask for such a large fee.
