Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen admits his future at the club depends on who the club signs this summer, reports the Echo.

The 26-year-old will be out of contract at the end of next season, after arriving from Swansea City four years ago.

And as of yet, no extension has been offered to Allen, who remains a fans favourite at the club despite limited appearances this season.

But the Welshman says that he may not run out his deal on Merseyside, depending on which players Juergen Klopp brings to the club this summer.

He said: “I think it hinges on pre-season plans and what exactly the club are hoping to do, everything comes into that.

“The acquisitions and who they are going to get in, and until that happens then it is difficult to answer that question.

“As a footballer you want to play every game.”

Allen was brought to Merseyside by former Reds boss Brendan Rodgers, who played him 95 times during his first three years at the club.

But his game time has suffered under current boss Juergen Klopp, who has started Allen in just four league games since arriving in October.

That hasn’t stopped Allen from recording his best goal haul of his Anfield career this term, having netted three times in all competitions this year, including a last-gasp equaliser against Arsenal.

However it seems his efforts may yet be in vein in regards to earning a new deal at the club, with many reports suggesting that Klopp wants to replace Allen with a more physical alternative.

Whether we ever see ‘the Welsh Xaxi’ in a Reds shirt again, it remains to be seen, but should he depart, he will certainly leave Anfield in high regard of fans who have increasingly came to appreciate his qualities and efforts in recent months.
