Five Reds make international appearances on Friday
Jordan Henderson, Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana started for England as they overcame Australia 2-1 at the Stadium of Light on Friday night.
The Reds trio played 90, 90 and 45 minutes respectively as goals from Marcus Rashford and Wayne Rooney ensured Eric Dier’s late own-goal would count for nothing.
James Milner also featured after entering as a half-time substitute, whilst Brad Smith played the full game at left-back for The Socceroos.
Daniel Sturridge sat out the game through injury, and his place at this summer’s European Championships could now be in doubt following Rashford’s goalscoring exploits.
The attacker has had a troublesome year plagued by injuries, and England boss Roy Hodgson said after the game that his place in the 23-man squad could depend on whether he is able to train on Monday.
Following the win, he told ITV: “It will be interesting to see how it goes over the weekend.
“I’m hoping he’ll train on Monday and if that’s the case, then the calf injury won’t be a reason for me to leave him out of the squad and he’ll join the rest of the pool.
“The decisions will then be taken and none will be injury-related.”
England play Portugal on Tuesday night at Wembley in their final game before facing Russia in their opening game in France on June 11.
Earlier in the day, Martin Skrtel sat out Slovakia’s 3-1 victory over Georgia.
The centre-back will hope to feature in friendlies against Germany and Northern Ireland before competing in a group with England and Wales in this summer’s tournament.
On Saturday, Christian Benteke, Divock Origi and Simon Mignolet will all hope to be in action as Belgium face Switzerland
Then on Sunday, Emre Can’s Germany face Martin Skrtel’s Slovakia and Phillipe Coutinho’s Brazil go up against Panama.
