Sevilla move ‘complicated’ for Mamadou Sakho
Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli has admitted that it would be ‘complicated’ for the La Liga side to sign another defender.
Goal are reporting that it would be tough for Sevilla to sign Mamadou Sakho after already adding to their squad this January transfer window.
Sakho has been linked with moves away from Liverpool as the player has no future under Jurgen Klopp. Sampaoli said:
I don’t know if we will modify our squad again. Now, I think that we won’t reinforce more positions. We thought about signing another centre-back because [Daniel] Carrico had surgery, but it will be complicated.
The La Liga side, along with Southampton have been linked with moves for the French defender. Liverpool would prefer a permanent deal for Sakho but would command £20 million for the man they signed from Paris Saint-Germain.
Sevilla have brought in Clement Lenglet as well as former Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic on loan from Inter Milan.
Crystal Palace and West Brom have also expressed an interest in signing the defender during the window.
A move away from the club would end a turbulent period that has seen him be sent home during pre-season and banished to the side’s U23 team. He can now also no longer play for the U23s after his social media outbursts towards Liverpool.
