Both Liverpool and Barcelona are looking to sign Borussia Dortmund star Ousmane Dembele at the end of the season, according to a report in the Daily Mirror.
Jurgen Klopp personally spoke to the teenager last summer as he tried to persuade him to sign for Liverpool but the Frenchman decided to join the Bundesliga side instead.
He’s been in very good form in his first season in Germany scoring seven goals and assisting a further 16 in his 36 appearances so far.
Quite why Dortmund would consider selling him is the obvious question as they’ve only just signed him to a five-year contract. The only reason they could consider selling up is if they were to receive an offer that they judge is too good to turn down.
The French international is a quality player and it’s easy to see where he fits in Liverpool’s side, whereas a move to Barca doesn’t seem like it’d be fruitful for his long-term career as he’d struggle for game time.
Klopp apparently wants to make another attempt at signing the 19-year-old this summer, time will tell if he makes a move.
