Liverpool have had a €75m bid for Monaco star Kylian Mbappe rejected by the newly crowned French champions, according to a report in MARCA.
According to the report, Monaco are looking for at least €100m for the teenager after his breakout season, in which he has scored 26 goals in 43 games, leading Monaco to a league title win as well as an appearance in the Champions League semi-final.
The Frecnhman is one of the hottest young talents on the planet and whilst it is unclear if MARCA have the correct information at this time, if the report turns out to be true, it would signal that the Reds are serious about making drastic improvements to their squad this summer.
Monaco would want a bid that breaks the world record transfer fee paid by Manchester United for Paul Pogba before they even considered selling their prized asset but even if such a bid arrives, there is no guarantee that it will be accepted as they’re on record as saying they’d want to keep him for at least one more year.
The player himself apparently has his eyes set on a move to Real Madrid and it’s highly unlikely that we’ll see him at Anfield next year but from a Liverpool fan’s perspective, it would be nice to see this story get confirmed as it would be a huge signal of intent going into the summer transfer window.
