Earlier in the week, Liverpool were claimed to be interested in a move for highly-rated Porto midfielder Ruben Neves, but faced competition from Chelsea for his signature.

With Porto in a period of financial difficulty, they could be forced to sell a number of their most coveted stars this summer and have already allowed striker Andre Silva to join AC Milan, and now Neves could follow him to Serie A.

According to A Bola (h/t Sport Witness), Juventus have now joined the Reds in the race to sign Neves this summer.

The 20-year-old broke into the Porto side during the 2014/15 season and became somewhat of a regular over the next two campaigns but this past season he has been used in a bit-part role, making just six Liga NOS starts.

Neves is currently away with the Portugal U21 side competing at this summer’s European Championships, but Porto appear keen to offload the twice-capped international as they continue to wait for an opening offer which is yet to come from any interested club.

With a €40m release clause in his contract, it remains to be seen if Liverpool, Chelsea or Juventus will be willing to meet that fee or if Porto will be looking at accepting a cut-price offer.
