Tottenham linked with move for Liverpool target Mariano
According to the Mirror, Tottenham are amongst a host of clubs interested in signing reported Liverpool target Mariano Diaz from Real Madrid.
Diaz has come through the ranks at the Bernabeu and has been promoted into the first-team in recent seasons, scoring five goals in 14 senior appearances last term.
However, the 23-year-old is eager to start playing regular first-team football and with the big names in place at Madrid, he’ll likely have to move on in order to secure it.
Celtic, Tottenham, Lazio, Real Betis and Malaga are all also interested in the Spanish-born Dominican Republic international forward.
Diaz has 32 goals in 43 appearances for the Real Madrid Castilla side and is believed to be open to a move to the Premier League should it arise.
Liverpool failed with two loan bids for the striker during the January window according to Spanish publication AS, and Diaz turned down 10 offers during the same window in order to stay put at the club.
The Reds are yet to renew their interest in Mariano this summer, but with the future of Daniel Sturridge in doubt, should he leave the club they could revive a bid to sign Mariano providing Tottenham don’t beat them to it.
