Could Liverpool swap Moreno for Ghoulam?
Liverpool have enquired to Napoli about the availability of fullback Faouzi Ghoulam, a short while after the club rejected Napoli’s bid for Reds left-back Alberto Moreno, according to the Daily Mail.
The Reds rejected Napoli’s £11 million offer and are wanting a fee closer to £15 million for Spanish full-back Moreno, while Klopp is hoping he can bring Ghoulam to Anfield as his replacement.
Talks over a potential swap deal haven’t taken place so far, however, Liverpool may look to take the Algerian international as part of the Moreno deal, and it would make sense for all involved.
Liverpool have been linked with a number of left-backs in the window so far, an area Klopp is desperate to strengthen in, including AS Monaco’s Benjamin Mendy, Celtic’s Kieran Tierney and Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon.
Ghoulam had a very successful season with Napoli, where he made 37 appearances in all competitions. The left back registered a massive 10 assists during the campaign, which saw Napoli finish third in Serie A.
Napoli are resigned to seeing Ghoulam leave the club with the Algerian attracting a lot of interest from around Europe, and considering their interest in Moreno, the two clubs should at least explore the idea of a swap deal.
Liverpool are eager to see Moreno leave Anfield this summer and bringing in Ghoulam to replace him would be a big upgrade at left-back and could allow Milner to move back into a midfield role.
