Liverpool have put a price tag of only €16m on German midfielder Emre Can as the player looks set to nub a contract extension with the Anfield club with Italian club Lazio keen to sign him, according to a report on Turkish Football.
The midfielder was a reported target for Serie A champions and UEFA Champions League finalists Juventus who were willing to pay €30m for him.
Can has an uncertain future and with only 12 months remaining on his current deal with the Merseyside club, they may choose to cash in this summer instead of letting him leave on a free transfer next summer.
The midfielder has not shown that he is unhappy at Liverpool but should the Reds sign Naby Keita then his first team opportunities will be limited.
Can wants enough game time to ensure that he travels with the Germany squad to the upcoming 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Lazio are interested in signing the 23-year-old and have been told by Liverpool that they will only have to fork out a shocking €16m. The Reds may be wanting slightly more for the German.
Juventus’ estimation of €30m is a lot more realistic as Can is still young and has been considered by the Turin club as a long-term replacement for Sami Khedira.
Can was part of the young Germany squad which won the Confederations Cup this summer in Russia and is expected to meet up with his club for pre-season training.
