Liverpool look set to miss out on Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with Arsene Wenger confirming the player will stay at the club this summer.

Speaking after Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Western Sydney Wanderers, as reported by the Metro, Wenger weighed in on Oxlade-Chamberlain’s future.

“Yes. 100%, I expect him to stay,” the Arsenal boss said in response to questions on the player’s future. “No matter the speculation, he will stay.”

Liverpool had been heavily linked with a move for the midfielder this summer and the player was thought to be keen on switching the Emirates for Anfield in the search of regular first-team football.

The England international is entering the final 12 months of his current deal at the club and with no fresh contract talks planned, it had looked as if Arsenal were willing to cash in on the player.

Liverpool are continuously linked with RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita and look set to test the German club’s resolve with an improved bid.
