Newcastle United are preparing to offer £10m to fellow Premier League club Liverpool for young winger Sheyi Ojo, who is highly rated by the Merseyside club, according to a report on the Northern Echo.
Newcastle have been monitoring Ojo for some time and are now ready to pursue the winger officially as he looks set to be on the fringes of the first team squad at Anfield.
The Magpies attempted a loan move for Ojo earlier in the summer but Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp blocked off the move after he was concerned that Ojo would not get sufficient game time at St James’ Park.
The 20-year-old winger has come through the youth system at Liverpool and is one the most highly rated talents that Liverpool have, with many fans and coaches at the club desperate not to sell him.
Ojo was left out of Liverpool’s 25-man squad for their Premier League Asia Trophy competition this month as he attempts to sort out his future before the start of the new campaign.
The Liverpool boss is more open to the idea of loaning Ojo to Championship side Middlesbrough as he feels that the young England International will play more over there.
Ojo was hoping to be a part of the first team squad but it seems that a season away from Anfield on loan is the most likely outcome, with a permanent move also possible.
The youngster was also part of the England U20 squad which won the World Cup this summer in South Korea. Ojo is poised to leave Liverpool this summer with no place in the squad for him, it remains to be seen whether it’s a loan move or a permanent exit from Anfield.
