Klopp confirms Markovic can leave this summer
The Liverpool Echo have today reported that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has all but confirmed that Lazar Markovic’s Anfield career is over.
The Serbian winger featured in the friendly win over Tranmere, but was been left out of the squad for Hong Kong.
Markovic, who has made 34 appearances in Liverpool colours since his arrival from Benfica three years ago, spent last season on loan at Hull City, and he could not save them from the hands of relegation, despite a spirited effort from the Tigers.
Jurgen Klopp admitted that if a club become interested in Markovic, then negotiations will take place, as the German looks to offload the winger.
With Lazar, it’s no secret that if he finds a club then we will negotiate. It was like this last year too. He’s a really good player. I like him as a person. He’s now fit and another one who is in the best shape since I’ve known him.
Before he had problems with his groin but now he’s good. There will be a club out there who needs him.
The 23-year-old, who cost Liverpool £20 million, has also spent time on loan at Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon during his ill-fated stay at Anfield, as he himslef looks for a move to revive his career.
It has previously been reported that Watford appear to be keen for Markovic, as well as former employers Hull City.
