According to the Mirror, Crystal Palace are still interested in Mamadou Sakho after a successful loan spell last season, but Liverpool have stated they will only let him go on a permanent deal and want £30m for the Frenchman.

After falling out with Jurgen Klopp last season, Mamadou Sakho joined Crystal Palace on loan until the end of the season in January, becoming a big presence in the Palace defence, eventually helping them stay in the Premier League.

Palace have already signed another defender in Jairo Riedewald from Ajax, which was confirmed yesterday, and they would love to add Sakho to really bolster their options for the 2017/18 season.

Sevilla are also reportedly interested in Sakho but Palace are very keen on the French defender and they may be willing to pay the £30m price-tag as they are told there is “zero” chance of them loaning him again.

Sakho is supposedly a big fan of new Crystal Palace manager Frank de Boer and he apparently wants to work under him, however, the Dutchman agrees with the Palace board about the £30m asking price being too much.

Liverpool have excluded Sakho from all preseason squads thus far, with the centre-back being left to train at Melwood throughout. The Reds’ persistent pursuit of Virgil van Dijk doesn’t suggest Klopp has any plans to keep Liverpool’s number 3.

The club’s job now is to find a buyer at the price they’ve set their stall out at.
