Fiorentina put off by £16m Lazar Markovic valuation
Fiorentina have pulled out of the race to sign out-of-favour Liverpool midfielder Lazar Markovic as they believe his £16m price-tag is too high, according to a report on the Mirror.
The Serbian winger has failed to impress at the Anfield club following his £20m move from Benfica three years ago and has spent the last two seasons on loan.
Markovic was on loan at Hull City at the end of last season as the club eventually got relegated from the Premier League.
Fiorentina were keen to take Markovic off Liverpool’s hands but when they were told his price, the Italian club called off the negotiations.
However, the Merseyside club are not prepared to lower his price as there has been Premier League interest from Watford and Leicester City.
The 23-year-old has been told by manager Jurgen Klopp that he is not part of his plans for the upcoming season and that he needs to find a new club before the transfer window closes.
The player was open to a move to Italy but the clubs could not agree on a price as Fiorentina don’t believe that he is worth £16m.
Markovic has been limited in terms of opportunities for Liverpool and has also had a loan spell with Turkish club Fenerbahce.
