Liverpool make club-record bid for Thomas Lemar
Liverpool have made a club-record bid to Monaco for Thomas Lemar, according to reports in France.
The Reds have apparently offered the reigning Ligue 1 champions €72million + €8m in add ons for the 21-year-old.
Monaco have already rejected three offers from Arsenal for the French international, the highest being around €50m, and are apparently keen to keep him at the club.
However, they’ve already shown a willingness to sell their best players this summer with the likes of Bernardo Silva and Tiemoue Bakayoko having already left the club and star striker Kylian Mbappe lookingl likely to follow them.
Liverpool are hoping that Monaco will accept the bid today so that they can get Lemar’s medical completed before he joins up with the French national squad.
France manager Didier Deschamps has a strict policy of not allowing any players to leave his training camps for transfer reasons and with them due to meet up this evening, Liverpool will want to get this deal sorted as soon as possible.
As it stands, the Reds are yet to hear Monaco’s response for the bid and will reportedly be making a call to their Vice President Vadim Vasilyev to speed things up.
