Liverpool target de Vrij refuses to sign new deal
Liverpool were linked with a summer move for Stefan de Vrij but Jurgen Klopp ultimately settled for his defensive options he currently has at his disposal.
Through five games in the Premier League, Liverpool have struggled defensively with Klopp chopping and changing his back four as Liverpool sit five points adrift from the league leaders.
Klopp has hinted that Liverpool could make moves in the January transfer window and news that de Vrij has turned down a new contract with Lazio will go down well on Merseyside.
De Vrij sees his future elsewhere but would sign a new deal if it included a €20m release clause, which Lazio believe is well below his true market value, leaving them in a sticky situation.
Liverpool could make a pre-contract approach for the Dutchman in January should his contract situation remain as it is, but they could face competition from both Inter Milan and Juventus who made summer moves for the centre-back.
