Liverpool are reportedly set to go head-to-head with La Liga and Champions League holders Real Madrid to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic, who could replace Philippe Coutinho if he moves to Barcelona.

According to the Mirror, Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of the USA international winger, who turned 19 earlier this month.

Pulisic was born in Pennsylvania, USA, and lived in England for a year at the age of seven, before returning to his homeland and playing for PA Classics Soccer Development Academy.

In February 2015, the American teenager joined Borussia Dortmund’s youth setup and a year later broke into the first team squad, where he has made 63 appearances to date, scoring 10 goals; including three in eight games so far this season.

Spanish news outlet Don Balon claim that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is furious that Barcelona beat Los Blancos to the signing of Ousmane Dembele from Dortmund in the summer, and wants to sign Pulisic to rival that move; however, Liverpool are keen on the USMNT man.

Jurgen Klopp is keen to replace Philippe Coutinho with a quality attacking player such as Pulisic if the Brazilian does indeed complete a move to Barcelona — but for Dortmund to sell one of the world’s most promising youngsters would take some offer, so the Reds will be up against if Real Madrid do indeed come calling for the young American.
