Can rues missed chances against United
Liverpool midfielder Emre Can reflected ruefully on his side’s 0-0 draw against Manchester United on Saturday.
The German international featured as his side failed to make the most of several chances throughout the course of the match, with the honours even on the day.
Liverpool were brilliantly denied by David De Gea in the first half, and Romelu Lukaku was denied from close range by compatriot Simon Mignolet near the end of the opening 45.
Can, as quoted by Goal, discussed the game with French news outlet SFR Sport, and was disappointed that his side could not make the most of their clear dominance throughout.
We have to win that game because we dominated for 90 minutes. I think we had good chances and United had one shot on target with Lukaku.
It’s the same story like before the international break but we have to go again on Tuesday because I think it’s just a small, small step and then we will come in the right direction again.
Liverpool dropped down to 8th place in the Premier League following the draw, and have been somewhat unconvincing despite their promising performances.
It’s too early [to make judgements], nothing is over yet and we have to believe in ourselves. We have to win the next game.
Can and the Reds will be looking to bounce back on Tuesday, when they take on Maribor in the Champions League group stages away from home.
