Liverpool Predicted XI: Maribor (A)
Liverpool’s next game in what is shaping up to be a very busy schedule is an away tie at Maribor in the Champions League.
Having drawn their first two matches in the competition, anything less than a win for the Reds will be seen as a disappointment.
However, having just played Manchester United on Saturday and with a game against Spurs coming up at the weekend, Jurgen Klopp is likely to make a few changes to his side.
Here’s the XI that I think he’ll pick for this game:
Loris Karius
Karius started the first two Champions League ties so there’s no reason why that’ll change now.
Trent Alexander-Arnold
Joe Gomez was great against Manchester United but I think Klopp will go with the more attack-minded Alexander-Arnold.
Joel Matip
Matip had a decent rest during the international break so he should be ok to handle three games in eight days.
Ragnar Klavan
Dejan Lovren is back in the fold for Croatia and having played a lot recently, I can see Klopp giving him a rest for this one.
Andrew Robertson
It’s probably a bit risky to change four of the back five but Robertson deserves game time and I think he gets it ahead of Alberto Moreno.
Jordan Henderson
There is some logic behind giving Henderson a rest but I can’t see Klopp not picking his captain in a European away tie.
James Milner
Milner is another player who needs to get some minutes and I think this is a perfect place for him to get some game time.
Emre Can
I think Klopp will want to keep Philippe Coutinho on the bench and only use him if absolutely necessary so Can continues in midfield.
Mohamed Salah
Liverpool need to manage Salah carefully whilst Sadio Mane is away. They’ll hope to get the game won and give him a rest in the second half.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
It was only a brief cameo but Oxlade-Chamberlain did well when he came on against United. Hopefully he can use that as a catalyst to kick-start his Liverpool career.
Roberto Firmino
Firmino needs to start finding the back of the net more often and a game with Maribor could be the perfect chance for him to get some confidence in front of goal.
