Maribor vs Liverpool – The Kop HQ’s match preview
Liverpool face Maribor of Slovenia tonight in the Champions League and it’s about time we registered our first win in the group stages.
We can’t allow Sevilla to get too far ahead in the table and tonight is the night when we have to make a statement. As ever, it will be interesting to see what team Jurgen Klopp selects as there are a few fringe players pushing for starts, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Dominic Solanke ready in waiting.
A lot will depend on whether or not Klopp will venture from the rigid midfield trio of Jordan Henderson, Emre Can and Gini Wijnaldum or keep the faith with them, knowing that the trio can lack creativity at times.
Maribor are a decent side on their own patch and it won’t be easy for Liverpool, but it’s certainly a game we should be winning and with the pace of Mo Salah and the genius of Philippe Coutinho, we should have too much for them.
It’s all about taking our chances, soon enough someone is going to be on the end of a hiding from Liverpool and tonight I can only see a victory for the Redmen.
Prediction
Maribor 1-3 Liverpool (Tavares / Salah, Firmino, Solanke)
