Liverpool have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Germany international Leon Goretzka in recent times.
It’s claimed by Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, as covered by Metro, that the Reds have been in contact with Goretzka’s representative, with them keen to bring the midfielder to Anfield in the near future.
The enigmatic playmaker is looking all but set to leave Schalke in the near future, with his contract at the club set to expire at the end of the season.
At just 22-years-old, Goretzka has been tipped for big things and is understood to be held in high regard by a number of top clubs across the continent, including Liverpool.
However, given Goretzka’s continuous rise and transition to become one of the Bundesliga’s top midfielders in recent seasons, the Reds will need to fend off some serious competition if they are to lure him to Merseyside.
The report states that Liverpool aren’t the only club to have thrown their hat into the ring for Goretzka, with the likes of Juventus, Bayern Munich and Barcelona all having allegedly made offers.
