Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign to Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka in January.

According to Don Balon, via the Daily Star, Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Goretzka when the next transfer window opens.

The report claims that Goretzka has rejected advances from Barcelona to seal a move to Liverpool.

Goretzka has been in superb form for Schalke of late and is attracting interest from some of Europe’s elite.

However, it appears as though Liverpool have won the race for his signature and could announce the signing in January.

The German midfielder has scored four goals in nine games for Schalke this season and has scored six goals in 12 caps for Germany.

The report also claims that Goretzka’s arrival could spell the end of Philippe Coutinho’s Liverpool career.

Liverpool are demanding £130m for Coutinho in January, with Barcelona retaining their interest in the Brazilian, after their failed summer move.
