Barcelona chiefs give green light to sign Coutinho
The most talked about transfer saga of the summer looks set to continue into January after club executives at Barcelona were reportedly given the green light to sign Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho, Mundo Deportivo report.
Coutinho, 25, was the subject of multiple bids from the Catalan giants in the summer, and he even handed a transfer request in to try and force a move. Liverpool rejected all bids from the La Liga side along with the player’s request, as the Brazilian remained at Anfield.
It has been rumoured that Barcelona are weighing up a move for either Coutinho or Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil in January, but it looks like the club’s chiefs have decided on going back in for Coutinho in January as they hunt for their key target again.
It is expected that Liverpool will remain uninterested in Barcelona’s offers, however, if the Catalan side up their offers and the player hands in another transfer request, we may well see Coutinho unveiled as a Barcelona player in the upcoming window.
