Liverpool won’t give up on Emre Can contract negotiations
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the Merseyside club will keep trying until the end of the season to get midfielder Emre Can to agree a new and improved contract with the club, according to a report on the Liverpool Echo.
The German midfielder has unable to agree terms for a new contract with the Premier League club and has since been linked with a move to top European clubs such as Bayern Munich and Juventus.
The 23-year-old is a crucial part of the Liverpool squad and manager Klopp wants him to stay with the club for the foreseeable future.
However, if both parties can’t strike an agreement by the end of the season then Can will be available to leave the Anfield club on a free transfer.
Klopp said:
I said he could still sign a contract in May. That’s how it is. Persuade him? That’s what we try to do all the time.
We have to be as attractive as possible as a club so no-one wants to leave. That’s not changed.
The German is doubtful to play this weekend against Chelsea at Anfield after suffering a muscle injury in the 3-3 draw against Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League this week.
