Liverpool Predicted XI: Everton (H)
Liverpool go into Sunday’s Merseyside Derby in high spirits after a run of games where they’ve scored goals for fun.
Everton, after a dreadful start, have solidified in recent weeks under Sam Allardyce and will be hoping to continue their run of clean sheets when they visit Anfield.
With so many players healthy and in good form, Jurgen Klopp has a few decisions to make when he picks his starting XI.
This is the side that I think he’ll select.
Simon Mignolet
Mignolet will come back in for Loris Karius who played in midweek. The Belgian had a good game against Brighton and will be looking to continue that in the derby.
Joe Gomez
I think Klopp will be happy to have Gomez in over Trent Alexander-Arnold as he’d like to be a bit more solid defensively and will want him in the side to help defend set-pieces.
Dejan Lovren
Lovren was taken off in midweek to give him a rest ahead of this one. He’s playing through the pain at the moment.
Ragnar Klavan
Klavan, whilst not being the best defender ever, has had a good few games and with Joel Matip out, he’ll play.
Andy Robertson
Alberto Moreno hobbled off in midweek and it looks like he’s going to be out for a while so it makes sense for Robertson to come in, although Klopp might fancy putting James Milner in.
Jordan Henderson
Klopp confirmed post-Moscow that Henderson would come back in for the Derby.
Gini Wijnaldum
Emre Can played will in midweek and if I was picking the side, he’d be in over Henderson but I think the manager will want Gini in for this one.
Philippe Coutinho
He’s been in stunning form in recent games and his record in Derby games is excellent. He’s a nailed on starter.
Sadio Mane
Speaking of players with good Derby records, Sadio Mane has faced Everton twice for Liverpool and has scored in both games. He’ll look to make it three in three on Sunday.
Mohamed Salah
18 goals and counting for Salah this season. Let’s hope he continues his excellent goal scoring record this weekend.
Roberto Firmino
Firmino has been outstanding in recent weeks. His ability on the ball and his willingness to work without it makes him the perfect forward player in a Jurgen Klopp side.
