Iniesta urges Barca to sign Coutinho
Andres Iniesta has spoken to the media and urged FC Barcelona and Ernesto Valverde to sign Liverpool man Philippe Coutinho.
The Catalan giants were heavily linked with the Brazilian in the summer, but Klopp’s resistance to sell him won out in the end, even with Barcelona offering north of £100m.
It is reported that Coutinho’s second choice, Mesut Ozil, maybe picked up by Barcelona on a free transfer when his contract at the Emirates runs out next summer.
However, Valverde may come back with another offer for Coutinho when the January transfer window opens, and may also offer Javier Mascherano back to the Reds as part of a potential deal.
With Mascherano set to leave and with Valverde making his own team of Barcelona players, the Catalans have also been linked with centre-back Yerry Mina.
Speaking to the media, Camp Nou legend Andres Iniesta has said about Mina and Coutinho (via Goal):
If the club wants to strengthen those positions, it should be with players that can be prepared to withstand the pressure of a club like this, and they would be two big signings.
So the Spanish midfielder is very keen on Coutinho and believes that he would be a very good addition to Barcelona’s new generation being created by Valverde. However, he is still a Liverpool player for now.
