Simon Mignolet is considering his future at Liverpool after being dropped for the titanic 4-3 victory over Manchester City, as reported by the Guardian.
The Belgian international is angry that he has been replaced by Loris Karius as first team goalkeeper in recent weeks and is not happy with Klopp’s goalkeeper rotation, classing it as “unhealthy”.
Normally first choice, Mignolet has had a below par season once again for Liverpool but the same can be said for Karius, who came under fire for his performance on Sunday, after letting in Leroy Sane’s goal at his near post.
Current Serie A leaders Napoli are apparently interested in Mignolet’s services and are lining up a bid in the region of £18 million, as per Belgian reports (via the Liverpool Echo).
The Italian side reportedly want to replace ex-Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina. Ironically, it was Mignolet who replaced Reina at Liverpool in 2013, which saw the Spaniard depart to Napoli on loan.
Throughout his time at Anfield, Mignolet has been criticised heavily for his sub-standard displays. Despite playing reasonably well last season, which coincided him regaining the number one spot, Mignolet has once again not lived up to expectations.
