Liverpool linked with £70m move for James Rodriguez
Liverpool are eager to reinvest the £142m they received from Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho earlier this month and Spanish source Don Balon are linking the Reds with a stunning move for Real Madrid attacking midfielder James Rodriguez, who is currently on loan with Bayern Munich.
Zinedine Zidane was unable to find a taker for Rodriguez on a permanent basis during the summer transfer window which led to Bayern Munich taking him on a two-year loan, but Madrid are still listening to offers for the Colombian.
The playmaker has been suggested as a replacement for Coutinho as Liverpool’s prime creator and the Reds have been in talks with his representatives regarding a future move.
However, Madrid would insist that they receive £70m – or as close to that fee as possible – to part ways with Rodriguez as they look to recoup the money they spent on signing him from Monaco in the summer of 2014.
It’s understood that Liverpool would be looking to negotiate a deal which sees him arrive at Anfield in the summer.
