Liverpool cool their interest in Roma’s Alisson
Liverpool have seemingly cooled their interest in Roma goalkeeper Alisson after making enquiries about his availability.
It was reported earlier in the week that the Reds had already held talks with Roma about the possibility of signing the 25-year-old but were told they would need to pay upwards of £70million to get him.
As reported by the Liverpool Echo‘s James Pearce, that fee, along with the recent upturn in form from Loris Karius, has led to the Reds cooling their initial interest.
Rather than spend such a huge fee looking to replace Karius, the Reds will apparently look to bring somebody in to compete with him for the starting role, whilst letting Simon Mignolet leave.
The 30-year-old Belgian has no intentions of being a back-up at this stage of his career and he’s expected to move on in the summer.
What the future holds for Danny Ward, Liverpool’s current third choice goalkeeper, remains to be seen.
