Rhian Brewster undergoes second operation and won’t feature again this season

Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster will not feature again this season after he had a second operation on his injured ankle, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

The 17-year-old was only expected to be out for four months after going under the knife after injuring the ligaments in his ankle in January, when he landed awkwardly when jumping for a header playing for Liverpool U23s.

However, the teenager has he’s suffered a set-back which means he know won’t play again this year.

Brewster also injured his knee when he injured his ankle and he now needs an operation to repair his damaged meniscus, which means he will not be back in action until July at the earliest.

The news will come as a blow to Liverpool youth team managers Neil Critchley and Steven Gerrard, both of whom would have liked to have Brewster available for their teams for the end of season run ins.

However, the plan is for the teenager to get the knee issue sorted so he can be back fit for pre-season training this summer.
