Liverpool contemplating summer swoop for Timo Werner
Liverpool are seriously contemplating a summer swoop for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner this summer, according to a report from the Independent.
The Reds have been linked with Werner briefly in the past but it seems they could be ready to solidify their interest in the player. Werner has been in good form for Leipzig in the last two seasons and appears to have piqued Liverpool’s interest.
Werner, who is an established Germany international, has reaffirmed his commitment to Leipzig in recent times and has insisted that he intends to stay in the Bundesliga with them for the 2018/19 campaign.
However, the promising striker has made it clear that he does indeed have his sights set on a move to the Premier League and has pointed out Liverpool and Manchester United as two places where he could see himself flourishing.
Although Werner has admitted that he’d prefer a move to Old Trafford should the opportunity come about, the Independent claim that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is expressing the most concrete interest of the two Premier League giants.
