Liverpool are not pursuing Stoke City and England goalkeeper Jack Butland, although the Reds have been linked with him for a £40m move, according to The Liverpool Echo.
Liverpool’s goalkeeping situation has been a hot topic this season, with Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius alternating for most of the campaign, until recentlyas Jurgen Klopp has stuck with Karius, who has stepped up in recent weeks.
However, with Mignolet not wanting to stay at Anfield and be second choice to the 24-year-old, it is believed that Klopp will be aiming to try and sign a goalkeeper for next season, one worthy of challenging Karius.
Karius has been first choice goalkeeper and has played every league and Champions League game since the magnificent 4-3 win over Manchester City, of which the Reds have only lost twice out of 11, against Swansea City and Manchester United.
He has also made crucial saves in recent vital wins against West Ham United and Newcastle United, such as the save from Marko Arnautovic’s attempted chip and Mohamed Diame’s magnificent shot.
Liverpool remain third in the Premier League and in the hat for the quarter final draw of the Champions League, with Karius being an influential part of those achievements.
Whether Liverpool decide to go for a new ‘keeper remains to be seen but if they do, they won’t be going after Butland.
