Liverpool take on Watford this weekend, with the Reds trying to bounce back after a disappointing defeat to rivals Manchester United last week.
With Chelsea not playing this weekend, the Reds could move seven points clear of Antonio Conte’s side. This comes as Liverpool try to secure a top four place in the Premier League table, securing Champions League football at Anfield next season.
The last meeting between Watford and Liverpool was on the opening day of the season. At Vicarage Road, the Hornets scored a last-gasp goal to get a point in a 3-3 draw. Since then, Watford have struggled and did sack manager Marco Silva in favour of Javi Gracia, who has improved Watford’s position in the Premier League table.
In terms of team news, Jordan Henderson could return to the lineup, after only making the bench last week. Gini Wijnaldum will return, after suffering from an illness last week.
Here’s how we predict Liverpool will line up against the Hornets…
GK: Loris Karius
Karius is the number one. He starts every game.
RB: Joe Gomez
I think Klopp might want a bit more physicality in the side, so Gomez gets the nod.
CB: Virgil van Dijk
No brainer, really. When he’s fit, he plays.
CB: Joel Matip
Liverpool are likely to see a lot of the ball, so picking Matip over Lovren makes sense.
LB: Andy Robertson
Robertson has established himself as the first choice left-back, I see no reason for that to change.
CM: Jordan Henderson
Jordan Henderson missed the Man United game but I expect him to start here.
CM: Gini Wijnaldum
Gini Wijnaldum bagged his first Liverpool goal in the same tie last year, he’ll be hoping to get on the scoresheet again.
CM: Emre Can
Emre Can wasn’t pictured at training on Thursday, but until he’s ruled out, we’ll presume he’s in the side.
RW: Mo Salah
Had a quiet game at Old Trafford, you wouldn’t back against him scoring against the Hornets
LW: Sadio Mane
Sadio Mane has been up and down, but he’s still a regular contributor from the left.
ST: Roberto Firmino
Fresh from delivering birthday cakes to fans, Firmino will lead the line against Watford.
