Liverpool’s eagerly anticipated trip to Goodison Park to face arch-rivals Everton has been moved back a day due to the Reds facing Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were meant to play Everton on Sunday 8th April at 2:15 PM, however, they will now face off with Sam Allardyce’s men on Saturday 7th April at 12:30 PM.

The reason for the fixture being moved back a day is because UEFA have scheduled Liverpool’s Champions League quarter-final ties with Manchester City on Wednesday 4th April and Tuesday 10th April, meaning a Sunday kick-off for the Derby before a Tuesday night game would not work well for the Reds.

The fixture change has left Liverpool manager Klopp incensed and he believes that his players may suffer from increased levels of fatigue due to it.

He said:

We play 7.45 on Wednesday night and then 12.30 on Saturday. That extra five hours means the world in terms of recovery. Why not have it at 3 p.m., not after breakfast? Other leagues [reschedule] the entire game for another time to help their teams prepare; we play three days later. Not too cool, we have to go the hard way. If I can’t be angry about that, then I have to be politically correct and say nothing.

Klopp will have to dig deep into his squad to ensure that his side get through that very tough week without any problems and will be hoping to have majority of his squad available for selection.

Is Klopp right to be angry at the fixture change?
