Liverpool eye summer move for Julian Draxler
Liverpool are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Julian Draxler, according to reports.
The German international has found game time hard to come by this season as the arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe have seen him fall down the pecking order in the French capital.
The Reds were interested in Draxler when he left Wolfsburg back in January on 2017 and it looks like Jurgen Klopp is still keen to sign him now.
According to reports, it is Klopp himself who is talking to Liverpool’s Sporting Director Michael Edwards about Draxler and the manager is pushing for a move for his fellow countryman.
Liverpool’s current front three of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are as good as any trio in Europe but Klopp is looking for another forward option to allow him to rotate without any major drop off in quality and Draxler would certainly provide a very good alternative if the manager wants to give somebody a rest.
Liverpool used Philippe Coutinho as the man to move into the from three when needed earlier this season but he has since been sold to Barcelona. The Reds are yet to bring in a replacement for the Brazilian but a summer move for Draxler could help fill the hole in the squad left by his exit.
