Can injury not serious says Klopp

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Emre Can suffered a back injury against Watford on Saturday, but it is not too serious.

The Daily Star reports that the Liverpool boss confirmed the news following the full-time whistle.

[It is a] back [injury]. He doesn’t think, and I don’t think, it is too serious but it was too serious to continue. He had that problem a little bit during the week; we gave him one day of extra recovery. But he thought it would work and he trained normally yesterday.

Can was an early substitute in the Reds’ 5-0 home win against the Hornets. The German was visibly in pain as he was hauled off at Anfield.

The midfielder, who is still yet to decide on his future beyond the end of the season, will still join up with the German national team over the international break.

Die Mannschaft have two friendlies against Spain and Brazil in the coming weeks.

The Reds managed just fine without Can on Saturday. Mohamed Salah led the way, scoring four of the five goals at Anfield, lifting the Reds to within two points of Manchester United in second place.
