Liverpool are seemingly set to miss out on the signing of Cagliari star Nicolo Barella this summer.
According to a report from Italian news outlet Calciomercato, the young midfielder has identified Inter Milan as his ideal destination ahead of next season.
Barella had been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool but a move to Merseyside looks unlikely now, with the Italian Under-21 international eyeing a move to San Siro.

The 21-year-old has emerged as one of Italy’s most promising young players and has already established himself as a key man for Cagliari. Barella’s performances in Serie A have piqued the interest of a number of top clubs across Europe, with Liverpool having been touted as a potential destination.
Inter will not be able to land the midfielder unless they pay a premium, however. It’s been claimed in recent times that Cagliari will settle for a fee worth no less than around £35m.
