Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing German midfielder Max Meyer on a free transfer this summer and if that is the case, then they’ll be happy with the latest development in his contract stand-off with Schalke.
According to reports, Meyer’s agent has cancelled a meeting to discuss a new deal with Schalke, meaning he’s almost certainly going to leave the Bundesliga side at the end of the season.
Clemens Tonnies, Schalke’s president, told BILD that he had a meeting scheduled with Mayer and his representatives, but it was cancelled at the last minute.

He said:
I had an appointment with Max and his advisor, which was cancelled by his agent on short notice. If someone doesn’t want to talk to me, I cannot change that.
Arsenal and Liverpool are just two of the sides across Europe being linked with the German and as he’s a free agent, they are allowed to have negotiations with him now.
