Liverpool are reportedly keen to sign Bruno Fernandes from Sporting CP this summer.
According to claims from Portuguese news outlet O Jogo, as cited by Metro, the Reds are interested in recruiting the midfielder, who has been in excellent form for his side this season.
It’s reported that Liverpool have already entered into negotiations with Sporting’s promising midfielder, who has scored 13 goals in all competitions this season. He has also contributed with a highly impressive total of 18 assists.
Fernandes has apparently been watched by Liverpool in Sporting’s recent outings in the Europa League and with the clubs said to already be in talks, it seems the scouts have been encouraged by their viewings of the player.
The 23-year-old joined Sporting from Italian side Sampdoria at the end of last season in a deal worth just £7m. However, they’ll be forced to pay a considerable sum more if they want to land Fernandes this summer.
Portugal international Fernandes’ release clause in his current deal is said to be set at £87m – a fee which Liverpool are, of course, hugely unlikely to meet.
