The Dutchman signed for the club in January for a club record fee of £75 million from Southampton.
He has played a key role since joining Jurgen Klopp’s side and has been instrumental in helping them reach the Champions League semi-final.
The 26-year-old has since been named the Netherlands captain following the appointment of Ronald Koeman as the new manager of the national team.
Deeney is well known for his physical nature and has found it tough to play against the defender when he has faced Van Dijk in the past.
The two sides met a couple of months ago, when Mo Salah scored four at Anfield in a comprehensive 5-0 win for the Reds.
