The latest striker to be linked with a move to misfiring Liverpool is Atletico Madrid hitman Luciano Vietto.

The Reds are in desperate need for goals having only registered 22 in 20 Premier League games this season, and the Liverpool Echo report that manager Jurgen Klopp could be interested in the Argentine.

Spanish outlet AS claimed in the summer that Liverpool were interested in the 22-year-old, but the former Villarreal attacker signed for Atletico in June.

Since joining Diego Simeone’s side, he has only started five games in La Liga, and half of his 16 appearances in all competitions have come from the bench.

Vietto has mustered three goals this term, having struck 18 in 46 outings in 2014-15.

With Danny Ings and Divock Origi injured, and Daniel Sturridge continuously struggling with fitness, Liverpool could do with reinforcements in the forward position.

Klopp is unsold on Christian Benteke according to the Mail, whereas the hard-working Vietto may be more suited to the German’s gegenpressing.
