I understand the fact that Liverpool supporters want the club to target better players at bigger clubs instead of looking at mid-table and relegation-threatened clubs and I agree with that thought process.
However, there can be no denial of the quality of some players on the books at relegation-threatened clubs.
Obviously, these clubs are having miserable seasons, but that does not mean there are no bright spots.
Look at someone like Danny Ings. He played for a quite rubbish Burnley side last season. Despite the season-ending injury earlier this season, Ings bagged a few goals for Liverpool and looked very good.
Who’s to say there aren’t more players in the league that couldn’t do something similar? Ings is not the only example.
Although the papers have been linking Liverpool to a load of Bundesliga players, Jurgen Klopp should not rule out English clubs.
Here’s a list of players I have identified who could emulate what Ings has done this season.
Wijnaldum tore the Liverpool defence to shreds earlier in the season as he notched two goals.
He has a great work rate, which would fit Klopp’s system perfectly.
The 25-year-old may be allowed to leave for a discounted price, and I think he would be a decent addition to the squad.
Yann M'Vila: Defensive midfielder, Sunderland
If Lucas were to leave in the summer, most believe Klopp would not hesitate to replace him.
Bigger names who play this position have been linked to Liverpool, so if M’Vila decides to join his good friend Mamadou Sakho at Liverpool, the 25-year-old probably would not play a whole lot.
Jack Grealish - Attacker, Aston Villa
At 20, Grealish has already shown glimpses of brilliance, making some believe that he could be a star one day.
I recall him giving Liverpool trouble last season on multiple occasions.
Moussa Sissoko - Attacking midfielder, Newcastle
No, not Aly Cissokho.
Moussa Sissoko would bring a similar intensity to Liverpool like Wijnaldum.
Although he may have a bit of an attitude, he has been one of Newcastle’s best players over the past few seasons.
The 26-year-old would only be a squad player, but he would bring some energy off the bench.
