Gerrard urging Klopp to “complete the jigsaw”
Steven Gerrard believes that Liverpool only require “two or three” signings this summer in order to mount a serious title challenge next season, speaking to BT Sport.
Liverpool will be in the group stages of the Champions League if they overcome a two-legged qualifier in August, with Gerrard heaping praise on manager Jurgen Klopp.
Gerrard, who is set to take charge of the Under-18’s next season said:
“I think we’ve got a fantastic manager at the helm, who will hopefully attract a few big names to complete the jigsaw.”
Gerrard believes that Klopp should be targeting a left back and another attacking option as areas for improvement. Talks are ongoing with Roma for forward Mohamed Salah, with rumours going around that Liverpool are interested in young left back Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham.
“Hopefully we can get the two or three big pieces of the jigsaw that are missing and I’m really confident that Liverpool can keep moving forward and there will be success just around the corner.”
The Reds will be hoping that they can attract some more big names to the club this summer as they aim to kick on in the 2017/18 season, with the prospect of Champions League football sure to be an attractive one to potential targets.
